Parthenon Acquired by Private Investor

Private investment and business management group Arkaga has picked up Parthenon Ent., reports C21 MEDIA. The U.K. producer and distributor of kids and factual programming will join entertainment rights company Entara in Arkagas holdings. Together the two companies will enable Arkaga to become "a new force in family entertainment production and rights management" with a presence in the U.K., the U.S. and Germany.

Parthenon founder and MD Carl Hall, former director of Hit Ent., will serve as CEO of the new group, while Entara chairman David Cardwell will become chairman of Parthenon. In addition to her role as non-executive director of Entara, Theresa Plummer-Andrews becomes non-executive director of Parthenon, and Regis Brown, former exec VP at Entara, will be president of Parthenon Kids, with responsibility for overseeing the division's children's properties, as well as those previously handled by Entara. Parthenon Ent.'s existing senior management will be the same.

Entara recently acquired the U.K. licensing rights to THE MAGIC ROUNDABOUT, which currently airs on Viacom's Nick Jr. The company also produces CGI series THOSE SCURVY RASCALS, seen on NickToons, and JAKERS! THE ADVENTURES OF PIGGLEY WINKS, which airs on CBeebies.

Entara is also the third-party agent for Habbo, the online community for teenagers.
