Paramount Pictures Names Brad Weston Co-President, Production

Brad Weston joins Paramount Pictures as co-president, production, overseeing the day-to-day development and production of the studio's annual slate of films and literary acquisitions along with fellow co-president Alli Shearmur, who was appointed on April 14, 2005. Weston will report to Paramount Pictures president Gail Berman.

Chairman/ceo Brad Grey, who made the announcement regarding the latest in his new management team, said, "I am pleased to bring an executive of Brad's caliber to the studio, and to have forged, along with co-head Alli Shearmur, one of the strongest production teams in the business. Brad has strong creative instincts and a tremendous track record in film that truly speaks for itself. While his past success with cutting-edge filmmakers is an obvious strength, the full scope of his talents extends far beyond. I can't wait to see what Brad and Alli's combined and highly complementary strengths will deliver for the studio."

Weston was co-president of Miramax label Dimension Films, Miramax's genre film label, from 2000 to 2005, where he oversaw the development of a number of high profile film and video releases for the studio, working closely with such renowned directors as Robert Rodriguez and Wes Craven. Prior to that, Weston was head of acquisitions and development for Millennium films from 1997 to 2000.

Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Viacom Inc., one of the world's largest entertainment and media companies and a leader in the production, promotion, and distribution of entertainment news, sports and music.
