Ottawa '00 will take place from September 19-24, 2000. The OttawaInternational Animation Festival will recognize industry achievements inanimation with a new competition devoted solely to commissioned works. Thisnew competition will include a number of categories that existed previouslyat Ottawa festivals including: educational, scientific or industrial films;music videos; commercials; program and station ids; television specials;and television series. A new category has been added to showcase studioshowreels. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category and aGrand Prix will be awarded to the best overall film chosen from thesefields. As is custom, a Grand Prix will be awarded to the Best IndependentShort Film. The Independent Short Film Competition will include categoriesfor: Independent Short Film under 50 minutes; First Professional Film;Graduate Film; and Films Made For Children (not part of a series). Allworks completed after July 30, 1998 and never previously entered forselection at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (excluding SAFO)will be accepted. The submission deadline is July 1, 2000. Entry forms(including an on-line version which can be sent directly by e-mail) are nowavailable on the festival web site.
