Original Star Trek Series Returns to DVD

Sporting a custom plastic shell and condensed to eight discs with bonus features, STAR TREK THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (1966), comes repackaged to DVD on Aug. 31, 2004 (Paramount Home Ent. $129.99). All 29 episodes following the adventures of Kirk, Spock and the rest of the Enterprise crew contain remastered picture and sound (Dolby Digital 5.1) and are presented in original broadcast order rather than the production order of the previous DVDs.

Some of the best episodes are contained here, of course, including Where No Man Has Gone Before, Balance of Terror, The Galileo Seven, Space Seed and The City on the Edge of Forever.

Bonus features include: Commentary on four episodes by Michael and Denise Okuda (authors of THE STAR TREK ENCYCLOPEDIA); and five featurettes containing new and archival interviews (The Birth of a Timeless Legacy, Life Beyond Trek: William Shatner, To Boldly Go (Season One), Reflections on Spock and Sci-Fi Visionaries).
