Former Microsoft production manager and a producer of top-selling SIM CITY videogame, Matthew Thornton, established on June 1, 2005, the digital animation and production company One Red Room and is already producing two series for Disney.
SHANE'S KINDERGARTEN COUNTDOWN, for Disney Channels Playhouse Disney will air weekday mornings as part of the new Breakfast With Bear block, debuting on Monday, June 20 (7:00-8:00 am ET/PT), which is designed to help children prepare for school each morning. One Red Room is also producing the SHANNAS SHOW series, seen in regular rotation throughout Playhouse Disney, and from which 'SHANE'S KINDERGARTEN COUNTDOWN is a spinoff series.
Both Disney Channel series are exec-produced by Thornton and directed by One Red Room co-founder Christopher Hamilton, who also provides art, storyboard and animation direction alongside an expert creative production staff. The company offers proprietary methods in television and computer game development in Macromedia Flash, led by Thorntons extensive experience in the digital and computer games production industries. Thornton brings to One Red Room a wealth of experience as a company executive, senior production and operations manager and producer. As a producer of one of the top-selling computer games of all time, SIM CITY (Electronic Arts/Maxis Studios), and of the CGi/live-action gaming hit PHANTASMAGORIA 2 (Sierra Online), Thornton was able to create successful technological solutions for combining different forms of media into engaging entertainment experiences. Thornton also managed Microsofts Interactive Production facility in Redmond, Washington, expanding his technical and entertainment experience, and has worked as a writer and producer for The Walt Disney Co.
Hamilton started as an illustrator and animator for the globally popular Internet property Neopets.com. He later served as Flash animation supervisor for Cornerstone Animations production of VEGGIE TALES for Big Idea, also serving as a storyboard artist and character designer. Hamilton was then hired as the animation director by Hollywoods Unbound Studios, where he worked on broadcast projects for MTV and Disney, and online animation for Disney, Fox, Sesame Workshop and Nickelodeon.
Thornton and Hamilton set their sites on establishing One Red Room while working with Twentieth Century Fox Home Video to develop early-stage animations for THE SIMPSONS 4TH SEASON DVD menus and with Playhouse Disney for SHANNAS SHOW.
