Variety reports that Lily Collins (THE BLIND SIDE) is the top contender for the female lead in ODD THOMAS. She would play Stormy Llewellyn, Odd Thomas' girlfriend. The other contenders include Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings, Portia Doubleday and Addison Timlin.
In ODD THOMAS, the first book in Dean Koontz's series, the title character (Anton Yelchin) uses his supernatural intuition to track a man he calls the Fungus Man, who is surrounded by spirits that signal impending death. The three other books in the series are titled FOREVER ODD, BROTHER ODD and ODD HOURS. A graphic novel prequel, titled IN ODD WE TRUST, was published in 2008 with a second prequel comic, ODD IS ON OUR SIDE, was released last fall.
Stephen Sommers wrote the script and will direct. He will also produce with Fusion Films' John Baldecchi and Howard Kaplan.
Filming will begin in Santa Fe, New Mexico on May 2.
