Ocean Visual FX Launches Studio

Visual effects and 3D animation studio Ocean Visual FX has been formed in Huntington Beach, California, to design and produce effects and animation for feature films, broadcast and corporate marketing, according to Robbie Robfogel, ceo/visual effects supervisor. LuzMary Robfogel is coo.

The studio has brought aboard 3D modeler and animator Brandon MacDougall and character animator Jeff Clifton.

The facility features the latest in digital 3D animation software utilizing NewTek LightWave 3D, Eyeon's Digital Fusion compositing package, BOXX Technologies 3D workstations and render farms, as well as a fully equipped AVID HD editing facility.

Robfogel is a 10-year veteran of the entertainment industry. He has been affiliated with Foundation Imaging, O-Ent., UFO Films, Transcontinuity Studios, Interweave Ent. and others. His credits include BATMAN & ROBIN, ROUGHNECKS: STARSHIP TROOPER CHRONICLES, MAX STEEL, VOYEUR 2 and numerous music and corporate videos.

"Our mission at Ocean Visual FX," said Robfogel, "is to create cool, exciting and innovative product that helps the producer, director or company tell their story effectively in a memorable way."

MacDougall is an Emmy award-winning modeler and animator. He won a team Emmy in 1998-99 for "Oustanding Special Effects for a Series" for STAR TREK: VOYAGER. He was also nominated for an Emmy in 2000-2001 for the same series. Brandon has worked for such production houses as Foundation Imaging, where he was a 3D modeler and animator on STAR TREK: VOYAGER and STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE.

An experienced expert with LightWave, Clifton was previously a character animator at Clear Crown Studio, where he created animal characters for the PC game title WILD LIFE! Before that, Clifton was a 3D artist at Brainforest Digital Animatics, where he helped create a previs animatic for BETTY CROCKER WARM DELIGHTS.

"I'm confident the talent and experience that Brandon and Jeff bring will ensure Ocean Visual FX delivers a product second to none," added Robfogel.

Ocean has completed a web and DVD 3D modeling and animation package for Champion Sidecars, a company specializing in the conversion of Harley Davidson and Honda Gold Wing motorcycles into classic trikes and sidecars.

The studio is also developing a 3D animated Promotional Ad Character (PAC) for the Internet in conjunction with New Dimensions in Media. This interactive marketing tool will act as an agent host and guide on corporate websites.
