New York International Childrens Film Festival (NYICFF) presents films in competition, gala receptions, awards ceremony, workshops, retrospectives and sidebar events. The event expects more than 20,000 attendees. NYICFF accepts shorts, features, animation, documentary, narrative and experimental film and video. Works must be completed no earlier than January 1, 2003. Foreign language films must be dubbed or subtitled in English. NYICFF was formed to encourage the creation and dissemination of passionate, intelligent, artistic film and video productions for ages 3-18 and to build an audience for such works. Since its launch in 1997, NYICFF has become one of the largest and most prestigious youth film festivals worldwide. The emphasis of the festival has always been to provide the highest quality programming while pushing the boundaries of style, genre and subject matter to help redefine what is meant by film for kids.
