NVCP Debuts 'SpongeBob', 'Dora the Explorer' Infant Lines

Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products announces plans to launch new infant programs around Nickelodeon’s evergreen properties “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora the Explorer.”

New York/London -- Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) has announced plans to launch new infant programs around Nickelodeon’s evergreen properties SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.  Announced today by Michael Connolly, Senior Vice President, NVCP, at Brand Licensing Europe 2012 in London, the new lines, Dora Baby and Bubbly Baby Bob! [working titles], are set to roll out internationally in Winter/Spring 2013.   The newly conceived lines, with a totally different look and feel, will offer exciting opportunities at retail for new customers and complement the existing range of Dora and SpongeBob product lines.

Connolly said:  “We’ve taken our time to get this new product line right, successfully combining loveable characters with high quality, high impact product lines that will appeal to a new customer base while sitting perfectly alongside our current product offering at retail for kids, teens and adults.  SpongeBob and Dora’s evergreen status and multi-generational appeal present a perfect opportunity to further diversify our portfolio, adding more value for consumer and our partners.”

The Bubbly Baby Bob! collection, aimed at 0-36 months, will showcase the playful, optimistic and persistent positivity of SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends, stylishly incorporating sweet, simple phrases and cheerful poses of the Bikini Bottom inhabitants. Paired with the latest fashion forward looks, the new collection is squarely on trend by incorporating a soft color palette suitable for a younger boy, girl and unisex demographic.  Initial new product offering will focus on apparel and accessories.

The Dora Baby collection, aimed at 0-24 months, combines many of the wonderful things about Dora the Explorer – her spirit of exploration, imagination and learning – with quality, beautiful design, value and durability.  Showcasing Dora’s warm and earthy colour palette and design aesthetic, initial new products will include apparel and layette, providing parents and gift givers with the perfect product for their littlest explorers. Dora Baby product offerings will include apparel and toys, and will launch in Canada, France, UK, Australia, Spain, Mexico, Benelux, Turkey and Israel by late 2013.
