Not To Scale Signs Mirari to Directorial Roster

London-based production and animation company signs multi-talented, award-winning directorial team Mirari to its roster of international filmmakers.

LONDON, UK – July 22, 2014 Not To Scale, the London-based production and animation company with offices in Amsterdam and New York City, announced that it is welcoming multi-talented and award-winning directorial team Mirari to its already formidable roster of international filmmakers.

Based in Chatswood, Australia, Mirari combines the filmmaking talents of director Jimmy Yuan and producer Michelle Xie, who together run Mirari & Co, a boutique-style design studio. Not To Scale will represent Mirari both in the United Kingdom and across the United States.

“We’re delighted to have Mirari join the growing directorial team at Not To Scale, says Dan O’Rourke, Founder, Executive Producer, and Managing Director at Not To Scale. They can often bring a storytelling and narrative structure as well as great design to the motion design world, which is a rare skill.”

After receiving much early praise for Hyperachi, an experimental short film he made as a student, Jimmy Yuan went on to serve as Art Director and Lead Designer for a number of elite design studios around the world, gaining deep experience while working for high-profile brands including Coca-Cola, MTV, BMW, HP, and Royal Elastics. Jimmy also conceived and developed title sequences and special effects design for feature films including Fast & Furious 4 (2009) and Race to Witch Mountain (2009).

Jimmy Yuan and Michelle Xie formed their design studio in 2011, and have gone on to conceive, design, direct, and produce impeccably designed, award-winning work for brands including MTV, HBO South Asia, Cartier, and Barclays Bank, among many others. In 2013 Mirari & Co’s work has been recognized with six gold awards from PromaxBDA and a Silver award from Australian Effects & Animation Festival. Mirari’s abstract short film Shift was screened at the 2011 Pictoplasma Exhibition, the 2011 OneDotZero Festival, and at SIGGRAPH 2012.

In addition to running Mirari & Co., Jimmy is the creative force behind the “hobby site” Mirari+Art, while expressing a deep attraction to new technology and art.
