International Animation Festival has

released the selections for the Panorama section - Commissioned,

Canadian and Computer categories. For a complete list of competitors,

September 19-24, 2000 with the awards ceremony being held on Sunday,

months, his films will be appearing in various festivals and other

events, including the Hiroshima Animation Festival, Japan, August

24-28, 2000; the Macau Urban Council art carnival, Macau, August 19,

2000; and the Atlantic Film Festival, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada,

On Wednesday, July 26, 2000, Cinar Corporation began its discussions with Nasdaq officials to explain why they have not filed their annual reports and financial statements from as far back at November 30, 1999. In the midst of the talks, Cinar has announced they have been sued again! This time, the former owners of Cinar subsidiary, Carson-Dellosa Publishing, which Cinar purchased in 1997, have brought forth the lawsuit.

Eyeball finished a series of two-minute promos for USA Network. Creative director and art director Jory Hull created a slick style for the project that showcases USA Network’s fall line-up of original movies, first-run Hollywood features, sporting events and USA’s demographics. Eyeball created the design elements that linked the footage provided by USA. The promos were used as a visual representative of USA Networks for media buyers in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Shur said, "This was somewhat of a departure for USA Networks.

Montréal-based production house Voodoo Arts, part of the New York-based internationally-membered Ron Soodalter Associates Consortium, has gained exclusive representation in North America of Didier Kwak, one of the best French special effects artists. In addition, Voodoo also announced the appointment of Luc Belanger-Martin as executive vice president. With nearly fifteen years of experience in special effects, Kwak’s special effects credits include Wim Wenders’ PAR DELÀ LES NUAGES, Gérard Pullicino’s BABEL and Luc Besson’s THE FIFTH ELEMENT.

The British Film Office has appointed visual effects veteran Meg Guidon as their visual effects marketing executive. The newly created position was created to increase the visibility of U.K. F/X houses with U.S. production companies. The hope is to bring more high-profile work to the U.K. like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 2 and GLADIATOR, both of which were done in London. Guidon will be based out of the British Film Office at the Consulate General in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. Previously Guidon worked at some of the UK's leading visual effects firms including Cinesite and Mill Film.

The Ottawa 00 International Animation Festival has completed this year's pre-selection for the official competition. Once again, the festival set a record for entries, receiving 1,300 films from over 50 countries. To ease the pressure on the selection committee, this year's selection was divided into two committees. Festival organizers Chris Robinson and Hayden Mindell judged the Independent Film Competition (graduate films, first professional films, independent short works under 50 min. and films for children).
