Norbit Star & Director Reunite for Starship Dave

NORBIT director Brian Robbins has been tapped to direct Eddie Murphy in STARSHIP DAVE, VARIETY reports. The 20th Century Fox project is in pre-production and will be produced by Deep River Prods. and Guy Walks Into a Bar.

March has been set as the start date for production.

Peter Segal was originally set to direct, but a scheduling conflict arose with the filming of his Warner Bros.-produced GET SMART feature. Murphy enjoyed working with Robbins on NORBIT so much that he gave the STARSHIP script for the director to consider. NORBIT is set for release on Feb. 9, 2007.

STARSHIP DAVE follows a crew of tiny, human-like aliens who must find a way to rescue their dying planet. Murphy is set to play two roles the human spacecraft the aliens fly in and the starship's captain.

David Friendly and Marc Turtletaub will produce for Deep River along side Jon Berg and Tom Komarnicki of Guy Walks Into a Bar.
