Nohr Heads Granada/Carlton Merger

Merger vet Nadine Nohr now heads the integrated Granada International and Carlton International companies as md of Granada International, it was announced by John Cresswell, coo of Granada, a division of ITV plc in the U.K. Granada International will create the largest commercial distribution company in Europe, delivering co-production, acquisition, format licensing and international video and DVD sales.

Nohr said, Uniting these two great organizations with incredible track records and the unique ability to tap into worldwide opportunities can only be of benefit to buyers and suppliers. We will continue to provide creative commercial solutions, unrivalled deal making expertise and, at the same time, maintain a balanced and outstanding program portfolio.

She added, We will also bring together broadcasters and producers from around the world to develop strong global brands and exploit opportunities afforded by new technology in sales and marketing. We intend to be the leading player and partner of choice coupling a boutique approach with commercial expertise.

Nohr added it is business as usual until the new structure of Granada Intl is announced.

With more than 15 years experience in the international distribution business, Nohr has already successfully presided over three company mergers, the most recent in early 2001 between Granada International and ITEL.

Nohr will lead operations in London and Los Angeles, combining the extensive television catalogs of both Granada International and Carlton International, which feature classics such as AGATHA CHRISTIES POIROT and INSPECTOR MORSE; and the forthcoming 3D-CGI remake of Gerry Andersons CAPTAIN SCARLET, as well as more than half of the top 20 programs in the UK in 2003.

The catalog also includes almost 200 made for TV movies from Carlton America, now known as Granada America. This Hollywood-based acquisition and production company has made available star-laden and award winning TV movies specifically for U.S. cable networks and the international marketplace.

Granada Intl (www.int.granadamedia.com) will also offer the Carlton Film Collection, the largest selection of British films and principal group of English language films in the world plus moves from independent companies such as Wall to Wall (ANCIENT EGYPTIANS, SMALLPOX), Cirque du Soleil, Aardman Animations (CREATURE COMFORTS), Red Productions (BOB AND ROSE) and Blakeway Associates (THE QUEENS STORY).
