Game Informer reports that Nintendo plans to unveil its follow-up to the Wii at E3 in June, or possibly sooner. The new console will be in HD, which is intended to help boost third-party titles for the new system. Nintendo is already showing the new console to outside developers in order to ensure a respectable amount of titles upon launch. The expect launch is late 2012.

What is not known is what controls the system will contain, but with such a push for third party support Game Insider speculates that it will need to have standard controls whether the Wii controls remain or not. Additionally, it is not known whether the new system will be backwards compatible or even if it will be branded a Wii at all. Many began speculating that a new system was close when Nintendo announced a price cut on the Wii to start May 15.
