Computer graphics pioneer heading online animation community and next-gen virtual animation pipeline discusses disruptive technologies at the Spark Animation 2016: Business Symposium.

VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Rex Grignon, the founder and CEO of Silicon Valley’s Nimble Collective, was part of the “Disruptive Technology” panel at last week’s Spark Animation 2016: Business Symposium. The discussion included Grignon’s advocacy for the power of the cloud for virtual production pipelines and studio-level access for animators across the globe.

“It’s an honor to be part of SPARK Animation’s Business Symposium, an organization dedicated to advancing the industry while inspiring ideas and sharing pragmatic knowledge among its members,” Grignon said ahead of the event. “Our goal with Nimble Collective is to empower artists around the world to create and distribute their own animated content with our end-to-end animation platform, designed by artists for artists.”

A renowned animation and computer graphics pioneer, Grignon has provided animation for some of the top films of all time, including Toy Story, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar. In addition to his career as animation director, Grignon has taught the craft at conferences, festivals, and universities around the world. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Nimble Collective, founded in 2014 by Grignon and other film and technology visionaries, is building a platform with all the production capabilities of the animation pipeline hosted in a secure cloud environment. Nimble Collective will serve an estimated 10 million professional and aspiring animators around the globe with its collaborative platform.
