Nicktoons Network has picked up 26 additional half-hour episodes of WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN from Marvel Animation for a total of 52 episodes. The new animated series, which follows Wolverine as he reunites the X-Men, clawed its way to the highest-rated original series premiere ever with kids on Jan. 23. The ratings success of WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN helped lead Nicktoons Network to its highest-rated April ever with all core demographics and total viewers. New episodes from season one of WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN will return on Fridays beginning May 22 at 8:00 pm ET.
Led by Marvel Animation’s WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN and IRON MAN: ARMORED ADVENTURES, Nicktoons Network posted the highest gains of any other kids' network with boys 6-11 and boys 6-14 in primetime and total day for quarter-to-date (3/30/09-4/26/09). The network grew its ratings by +50% with boys 6-11 in total day and +33% in primetime, and posted a +67% gain with boys 9-14 in both total day and prime time. Additionally, Nicktoons Network just completed its highest-rated first quarter with kids 6-11, boys 6-11, tweens 9-14, boys 9-14 and total viewers.
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN airs regularly on Nicktoons Network Fridays at 8:00 pm ET following IRON MAN: ARMORED ADVENTURES (7:00 pm ET), which follows Marvel’s armored superhero, Tony Stark, as he attempts to balance the pressures of being a teen with his responsibilities as Iron Man.
