Nick's Zim & Fairly OddParents Set For March Debut

Nickelodeon is set to premiere two new cartoon series, INVADER ZIM and THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, in March. Debuting on Friday, March 30 at 8:30 pm, THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS follows the adventures of 10-year-old Timmy Turner (Tara Strong) and his newly arrived fairy godparents -- Cosmo (Daran Norris) and Wanda (Susan Blakeslee), who grant him wishes in an attempt to fix his problems. The series is created by OH YEAH! CARTOONS! veteran Butch Hartman. "This show is full of physical comedy and mayhem that results from a world turned upside down when a 10-year-old boy makes outlandish wishes," says Cyma Zarghami, executive vice president and general manager, Nickelodeon. Hartman and Fred Seibert are the executive producers. Debuting on Friday, March 30 at 9 pm, INVADER ZIM focuses on a paranoid alien named ZIM (Richard Horvitz, ANGRY BEAVERS) from planet Irk who believes he is at the forefront of a sinister plan of galactic conquest. The season premiere, ``The Nightmare Begins,'' finds ZIM trying to join his fellow Irkens in their conquest of the galaxy -- Operation Impending Doom II however, since ZIM was responsible for the failure of Impending Doom I, his leader, The Almighty Tallest, has sent him to planet Earth instead. The series was created by SQUEE! and JOHNNY, THE HOMICIDAL MANIAC comic book creator Jhonen Vasquez and is co-executive produced by animation veteran Mary Harrington. Steve Ressel is producer/director of the series.
