Nickelodeon's Dora Takes Hour-Long World Adventure

Nickelodeon's Latina heroine Dora will embark on an unprecedented primetime event, as she teams up with nemesis Swiper on her first global journey to save Friendship Day. Dora will take viewers on jaunts to France, Tanzania, Russia and China in the hour-long special, DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE, which premieres Nov. 19, 2006, 8-9:00 pm. on Nickelodeon.

"Dora's first-ever global journey celebrates the spirit of friendship," said Brown Johnson, exec creative director, Nickelodeon Preschool Television. "In this special, our Latina heroine explores new languages and cultures, and, as always needs our young viewer's help to save the day."

Additionally, DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE will roll out across several Nickelodeon Preschool platforms: DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE DVD and home video from Nickelodeon Home Ent. and distributed by Paramount Home Ent., is available in retail stores in the U.S.

DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE CD from Nick Records and distributed by Sony BMG, is available and features music from and inspired by cultures and countries around the world, including special performances by Ziggy Marley and Aaron Neville.

Since Nov. 6, a two-minute sneak peek of DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE has been available on various wireless carriers and on Nick Jr. Video. Beginning Monday, Nov. 20, additional songs from the special will become available on wireless carriers and Nick Jr. Video.

In DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE, everyone is celebrating Friendship Day all over the world. When Swiper mistakenly swipes the special glowing friendship bracelets from various countries, Dora teams up with him on a global excursion to return them to her international friends. In France, they sing the "Bonjour" song and meet the smiling Gargoyle who shows them the Eiffel Tower. Dora and Swiper journey across Tanzania on an elephant until they reach Mount Kilimanjaro. In Russia, they make silly faces to get the Russian troll to laugh and open the gate to the Winter Palace. Lastly, the duo takes a train ride across China and jumps over the Great Wall. Along their adventures, Dora, Swiper and the preschoolers at home learn how to say hello in each country's native language.

Nick Jr.'s award-winning website (www.nickjr.com) offers an interactive game and activities to complement the premiere of DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE . At www.Nickjr.com, kids can play as either Dora or Swiper in the DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE game and journey through France, Tanzania, Russia and China to collect friendship bracelets and earn passport stamps. The www.Nick Jr.com Parents section features four unique activity packs filled with printables specific to Dora's adventures in each country. The site will also feature Dora's "El Dia de Amistad" friendship e-card and an international Swiper coloring pack.

DORA THE EXPLORER was created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh and Eric Weiner. Gifford and Walsh serve as exec producers on the series. DORA'S WORLD ADVENTURE was written by Walsh.
