Nickelodeon Ups Casey & Spinelli

Nickelodeon Animation promotes Megan Casey and Claudia Spinelli to Vice President, Current Series, with the pair reporting to SVP Rich Magallanes.

Megan Casey and Claudia Spinelli have been promoted to Vice President, Current Series, Nickelodeon Animation. The announcements were made by Rich Magallanes, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation, Current Series to whom they will report.

“Megan and Claudia have proven to be successful leaders, elevating Nickelodeon’s animation slate with their exceptional supervision of bona fide hits like SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Legend of Korra,” said Rich Magallanes, Senior Vice President, Current Series, Nickelodeon Animation. “Their extensive backgrounds, strong relationships with creative talent and extraordinary management of successful series remain valuable assets as Nickelodeon continues to deliver funny, award-winning programming.”

In her new role as Vice President, Current Series Animation, Megan Casey will oversee various shows in current programming for the studio’s entertainment productions. Casey serves as the Executive in Charge for blockbuster hits like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Korra and Kung Fu Panda: The Legends of Awesomeness.

Claudia Spinelli will oversee various animated shows in production including Sanjay & Craig, Get Blake! and Rabbids Invasion. She will continue to serve as the Executive in Charge on the studio’s biggest hit, SpongeBob SquarePants, which includes supervision of the series production plus original SpongeBob content developed through many of Nickelodeon’s other lines of businesses.

Megan Casey joined Nickelodeon in 2007 as an Executive in Charge, supervising the final season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Mighty B! and Fanboy & Chum Chum.  Prior to joining Nickelodeon Animation, Casey served as Director of Production for Warner Bros. Animation, overseeing the creative development and production of all-genre family entertainment for broadcast, cable and made-for-video outlets.  She served as creative executive for various series and direct-to-video productions based on the studio’s hit franchises, including What’s New Scooby-Doo?, Tom & Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers and Superman: Doomsday.

Before Warner Bros. Animation, Casey served as Manager, Development for VH1 Original Movies, where she managed the creative direction and production slate for the division’s live-action television movies, including 30 Days Until I’m Famous (co-producer) and Play’d: A Hip Hop Story (associate producer). Casey has also held several positions at 20th Century Fox Animation, starting her lucrative career with the Jim Henson Company. Megan Casey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Claudia Spinelli has been part of the Nickelodeon Family since 2000 where she started as a Development Assistant before moving on to the world of Current Series.  Since then she has worked on a variety of Nicktoons including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Fairly OddParents, Random! Cartoons, The Mighty B!, Making Fiends, Planet Sheen and Robot and Monster. Furthermore, Spinelli managed ancillary activities for SpongeBob SquarePants such as the recent 4D Ride Film, “The Great Jelly Rescue!,” short-form content for the new App game, “SpongeBob Moves In,” original content for social media, and the hit stop-motion holiday special, It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!.

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Spinelli worked as an animator and clean up artist on commercials and short films through various animation houses in NY and LA. Claudia Spinelli has a Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Digital Arts from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television from New York University.
