Nickelodeon Africa Goes Multi-Splatform

Just six months after launching a dedicated, 24 hour Nickelodeon channel to more than 1.5 million subscribers across southern Africa, MTV Networks International, a division of Viacom, will expand the brand across multiple media platforms.

A dedicated Nickelodeon Africa website will launch later this month (www.nickelodeonafrica.com) to support the channel, which is dedicated to kids aged 2-14 years old. The English-language website will feature a wide range of interactive elements such as games and downloads, programming news and community areas. A Nickelodeon mobile TV channel is also available via the Vodacom network in Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania, which features a range of Nickelodeon's most popular shows refreshed on a weekly basis.

The Nickelodeon portfolio of internationally-renowned brands is represented locally by southern African licensing agency, Character Licensing & Marketing, who are working with MTVNI to roll out comprehensive consumer products licensing programs for SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and DORA THE EXPLORER in 2009. The licensing programs will focus on toys, gifts, apparel, housewares and home entertainment.
