4Kids Ent. Home Video, in association with FUNimation Ent., released TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: SEASON 1 PART 1 on DVD. Renowned illustrator Khary Randolph was chosen to create the comicbook style cover art for the DVD release, which features the first 12 episodes of the classic television series that first aired on 4Kids TV on FOX in fall 2003.
Inspired by the original comic that debuted more than 20 years ago, this television series is truer to TMNT co-creator Peter Laird's graphic style. With significant input from Laird, the episodes are based on those early storylines and feature his style.
"Designing the cover art for the TMNT season one DVD release gave me the unique opportunity to blend the look and feel of the classic Mirage TMNT comics with the style of the new animation created by 4Kids for the television series," said Randolph. "It was truly a labor of love and I am proud to have been chosen for the project."
This special two-disc DVD set is available at retail and at the www.4kids.tv web store in both English and Spanish language with appropriate soundtracks and packaging for $16.98.
