New Software to Help Achieve New Years Resolutions

It is estimated that 50% of people will give up on their New Year resolutions by June 2007, usually because they don't have an effective action plan or support system to maintain their motivation. A group in Ruby, England, has come up with new technology combining the powerful effects of imagery, insightful questions and animation with an established coaching process called G.R.O.W. (Goal, Reality, Options and Will). This software offers a new direction in coaching and mentoring.

The G.R.O.W. cards software is primarily a self-help process that engages the user at an emotional level through deep reflection. They act as a catalyst for effective goal setting, developing creativity, problem-solving skills, helping people turn goals into reality. They support the user 24/7, unlike a professional coach who cannot maintain that level of support.

Traditional coaching techniques rely on empathic listening and questioning skills within a process focused on the client's agenda. Typically, after each session the client creates a list of actions that they agree to complete before his next session. The client may not see their coach for a week to a few months, depending on the type of agreed actions. During this time the client may drift back to old ways of thinking and behaving. The G.R.O.W. cards software steps in to help the user access their hidden potential through deep reflection and supports them 24/7.

The creator, Keith Bound from Image Dynamics, came up with the idea through his experience as a coach and master practitioner of NLP. "I found traditional coaching techniques limiting and the email support system failing client's needs. By experimenting with imagery in a coaching context, I found that clients were able to break through blocks, developing a completely new perspective and direction to achieve their goals."

Citing the G.R.O.W. card simplicity, he added. "Its low cost, effective results and performance ownership means that is an ideal tool and process for achieving goals, whether you want to loose weight, develop confidence or gain a better work/life balance."
