New George Of The Jungle Swings Into Production

Studio B and Classic Media announced that they will produce and distribute a new GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE Flash-animated series. Originally a primetime animated series from Jay Ward, the new series (52x11) has been commissioned by Canadian animation broadcaster Teletoon and is slated for broadcast in 2006. Classic Medias Doug Schwalbe and Sandrine Pechels de Saint Sardos will be representing the series internationally at the upcoming MIPCOM Jr. and MIPCOM markets in Cannes, France.

We are very excited to be involved with GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, said Chris Bartleman of Studio B Prods. It is a rare opportunity to develop a property that has had such an impact on pop culture and been such an inspiration to us as young animators. Working with Classic Media and Tiffany Ward, Jay Wards daughter, is terrific.

Studio B is one of the worlds leading animation studios, adds Doug Schwalbe, head of worldwide distribution at Classic Media. Their award-winning animators will give George a fresh new look and voice.

We are thrilled to be using the magic of animation to bring Georges madcap antics to the television screen, says Madeleine Lévesque, director of original production at Teletoon. This partnership enables us once more to provide fun and imaginative programming for Canadian kids.

Each episode will find finely-coiffed, but dimwitted, George, along with his loyal pet elephant Shem and lovely damsel in distress Ursula, protecting the jungle from a never-ending scourge of dastardly bad guys. He leaves the thinking to Ape, his brainy seven-foot gorilla sidekick.
