Gaumont Animation’s new animated CGI series Calimero will premiere in France on TF1 on Sunday February 9, 2014.
VINCENNES, FRANCE -- Gaumont Animation, one of Europe’s leading producers and distributors of children’s entertainment, together with Calidra, Italy’s Studio Campedelli and Japanese partners TV Tokyo and Kodansha, announced that its new animated CGI series Calimero (104 x 11’) will premiere in France on TF1 Sunday February 9th.
“We are eager for the new Calimero series to conquer the hearts of a whole new generation in the same way the original character had in our youth” said Gaumont Animation’s Managing Director Pierre Belaïsch. “TF1 have been extremely supportive throughout the production process and their commitment was key in trying to make the new Calimero live up to its already famous name.”
“With Calimero, children will discover poetic, charming and funny adventures of a strong hero and his friends,” said TF1’s Yann Labasque. “Their daily life will throw them into comedy and action situations. We have really appreciated developing this animated series with Gaumont Animation and now hope that children will like it as we do. A must-see on TFOU from February 9.”
Calimero is a loveable little black chicken that was initially created in 1963 by Nino Pagot, Toni Pagot and Ignazio Colnaghi and became an international hit with 290 episodes of animation aired in over 80 countries. In addition to TF1, the new CGI series is set to air on Italy’s RAI, Germany’s Super RTL, Disney Junior, TV Tokyo, Tele Quebec and TSR in Switzerland. Gaumont Animation distributes the program and manages the brand internationally (excluding Asia) on behalf of rights owner Calidra.
