Nelvana Brings Diverse Program Slate To NATPE 2003

From KISS to clones, Corus Entertainments Nelvana Limited brings an eclectic slate of programming to NATPE this January. Gene Simmons, lead singer of the rock band KISS, has created MY DAD THE ROCK STAR, a 26 x 30-minute animated comedy targeted to 6-12 year-olds. The series centers on Willy Zilla, a 12 year-old kid who just wants to lead a quiet, normal existence. Unfortunately his Dad happens to be a super-popular, seven-foot tall, fire breathing, billionaire rock star. When the Zilla family moves to the suburbs, Willy thinks his dreams have come true -- but living in a small town with a celebrity father is not all its cracked up to be, as Willy soon discovers. Also for the 6-12 set, Nelvana offers JACOB TWO-TWO, a 13 x 30-minute animated series based on Canadas best-selling kids book by acclaimed author Mordecai Richler. For preschoolers, the childrens book series MAX & RUBY by Rosemary Wells comes to life with 26 x 30-minute episodes. The series follows the bunny Max and his big sister Ruby and their adventures in the village of East Bunnyhop. MAX & RUBY recently debuted in Canada on Treehouse TV and will be premiering on Nick Jr. in the U.S. in January 2003. Finally, Nelvana will present CLONE HIGH, 13 x 30-minute episodes of weird and wacky tales from the past and present as told by the clones of historical figures and celebrities. The series launched on TELETOON Canada this fall 2002 and is coming to the U.S. on MTV in January 2003.
