NAB Announces 2004 AIM Winners

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) announced the winners of the second-annual Awards for Innovation in Media (AIMs). Attendees at the NAB2004 voted for the technological innovations that best addressed current and upcoming issues in the electronic media industry by boosting efficiency, increasing user flexibility and creativity, and lowering cost. The top five products within each of the Content Creation, Content Management and Content Delivery categories received recognition during NAB's Technology Luncheon, sponsored by Thales Broadcast & Multimedia and held on April 21, 2004.

Within the Content Creation category, Apple's Motion, Leitch Inc.'s VelocityHD, LitePanels' LitePanels, Panasonic Broadcast's P2 Series and TM Systems' Dubstation II were each awarded a 2004 NAB AIM. Winners in the Content Management category were BayStor / Karden Group's BK-2500, ENCO Systems' Guardien, Fast Forward Video's Covert DVR, Maximum Throughput Inc.'s Sledgehammer and Thales Broadcast & Multimedia's CRYSTAL Logo Inserter.

Also receiving AIMs, within the Content Delivery category, were Decisionmark's Guide Channel, VBrick Systems, Inc.'s EtherneTV, Vela's CineView Quad, Vyvx's HD VenueNet and Wolf Coach, Inc.'s Sprinter.

"As the professionals who are using broadcasting technologies day in and day out, NAB attendees are in a unique position to recognize the hottest products emerging into the marketplace. The NAB would like to extend its congratulations to all of the 2004 AIM winners who received this esteemed recognition," said NAB president/ceo Edward O. Fritts.

A judging panel of editors from more than 20 key industry publications will review the AIM-winning technologies and other new products exhibited at the show to select an additional winner within each product category. The 2004 "Editors' Choice" award winners will be announced on April 29, 2004.

NAB2004 was held April 17 - 22 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and is the world's largest electronic media show covering the development, delivery and management of professional video and audio content across all mediums. The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air local radio and television stations' interests.
