Toy Story 3 Wins Two Oscars

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences handed out their coveted Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011. The big winner of the night was THE KING’S SPEECH, taking home awards for Best Picture, Best Actor (Colin Firth) and Best Director (Tom Hooper).

In the world of animation, Lee Unkrich took home his first Oscar for Best Animated Feature for Pixar’s TOY STORY 3. In the animated shorts category, Andrew Ruhemann and Shaun Tan surprised some with their win for THE LOST THING, beating out favorite DAY & NIGHT from Pixar. TOY STORY 3 also took home Best Song for Randy Newman’s “We Belong Together.”

For visual effects, Chris Corbould, Andrew Lockley, Pete Bebb and Paul J. Franklin won the night for their work on INCEPTION.
