Mind Candy Signs Deal with Sony Music
Press release from Mind Candy:
The partnership will see the entertainment giant handle the UK distribution of Moshi Monsters’ forthcoming music releases. The deal kicks off with the debut Moshi Monsters Music album “Moshi Monsters, Music Rox!” which is available for pre-order now online (Amazon.co.uk, Play.com, HMV.com and iTunes UK) and launches on shelf in the UK (and on iTunes globally) from April 2nd.
Written and produced in house, Moshi Monsters, Music Rox! features twelve tracks from popular Moshi characters including The MonStars, Dr Strangeglove, Popstar Poppet, Big Bad Bill and Sweet Tooth as well as newly developed music characters, Bobbi SingSong and Zack Binspin. The music covers all genres from rock to Bollywood, and combines catchy tunes with witty lyrics that will appeal to both kids and adults alike. With the Moshi fan base already huge and almost 60m registered users worldwide it is hoped that the album will be a monster hit.
Moshi’s music move is lead by ex-Rockstar Jason Perry who experienced huge international success fronting rock band 'A' and has produced many number one records for McFly and Busted’s front man, Matt Willis. Perry recently joined Mind Candy as Head of Music and will work closely alongside Sony.
Perry comments: “Sony Music is one of the biggest names in the industry and working with them shows our commitment to providing our fans with a top quality music experience. We set out to produce a great quality, edgy and fun album that both parents and children can enjoy and we hope our millions of fans enjoy the outcome.”
Nicola Tuer, Executive Vice President, Sony Music comments, “We are thrilled to be teaming up with Mind Candy and the phenomenal Moshi brand, one of the most exciting children’s brands in the world today. We feel it’s a great fit for Sony Music. The Moshi Music project is a fantastic way to engage young people with music. We’re very excited about the opportunities we can bring to the partnership.”
