Mullican Head Techie At iO Film

Kevin Mullican has been named cto for iO Film, a technologically advanced, full-service digital film finishing facility specializing in film and video projects from every sector of the entertainment industry.

Prior to joining iO Film, Mullican founded The Mullican Group, a consulting company specializing in the design and construction of highly specialized software and hardware devices for the digital film community. He built the first and only device for the automated conversion of disparate digital film images to a high-definition video stream. He also wrote the digital image-processing engine that now forms the backbone of iO Film.

In l997, Mullican founded LOOK! Effects, a digital effects boutique, where he led a team of artists as a vfx supervisor to complete shots for 11 full-length feature films within two years, including THE THIRD MIRACLE, I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS and SIEGFRIED AND ROY: THE MAGIC BOX.

At the start of his career, Mullican designed and built robots for the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT. After MIT, he relocated to Hollywood, becoming a protégé of four-time technical Academy Award winner Ray Feeney. Mullican played an integral role in the design and implementation of large-scale production systems for several high-end digital effects studios, including Pacific Data Images (later PDI/DreamWorks), Digital Domain, Rhythm & Hues and VIFX.
