MTV Networks Europe has announced that Motorola will be the exclusive provider of further MTV-created wireless content, including MTV GIMPS -- a freakish family of downloadable characters. In addition, MTV MIDNIGHT MASH is the new viral e-mail game, which was launched in support of the current MTV Motomash events, taking place across Europe until May 2004.
MTV GIMPS are a family of mutants that can be downloaded to personalize a mobile phone. Each character offers different dedicated elements including a "gimpified" ringtone (both MP3 / midi), a downloadable screensaver and downloadable wallpaper. The first Gimp characters to be made available will be "Lady Love" -- a chain-smoking, love thirsty female Gimp -- and "Androll" -- the soft on the inside, hard rock enthusiast on the outside Gimp. Additional character will roll out each month for the following three months. In addition, the GIMPS game PAIN ON THE TRAIN, which allows players to negotiate a Gimp character through underground train stations to Gimp land avoiding thundering trains and other dangerous obstacles along the way. The game will be embedded on some new Motorola handsets in May 2004 and will be available to download from www.mtvgimps.com and www.hellomoto.com in early summer.
The viral e-mail game, MTV MIDNIGHT MASH, works as a live Flash interactive site and allows players to register, interact and play a combative turn-based wrestling match. The game requires a player to challenge a friend to take part.
