MTV has greenlit a pilot and 12 additional episodes of TEEN WOLF, reports VARIETY. Tyler Posey will take over the role originated by Michael J. Fox in the 1985 film. The story deals with a high schooler who discovers that he is a descendant of a family of werewolves. The new version will be more horror than comedy.
Jeff Davis (CRIMINAL MINDS) penned the pilot script. He will serve as exec produce alongside Rene Echevarria, Marty Adelstein and Michael Thorn. Russell Mulcahy will helm the pilot. MTV is co-producing with MGM.
Shooting will begin this summer.
