Morena Films has become a co-producer on ASTERIX AND OBELIX: GOD SAVE BRITANNIA, reports Variety. Fidelite Films' Marc Missonnier and Olivier Delbosc are the producers. TriPictures also picked up the Spanish rights.
The 3-D production is budgeted at 50 million Euros ($71.5 million). The production will start this month in Malta, Hungary and Ireland.
Edouard Baer will play Asterix with Gerard Depardieu returning as Obelix. Catherine Deneuve takes the role as the British Queen with Fabrice Luchini playing Caesar.
Director Laurent Tirard and Gregoire Vigneron adapted Rene Goscinny and Albert Uderzo's 1966 comic ASTERIX IN BRITAIN. In the comic, Caesar attempts to invade Britain, attacking on the times when the British soldiers are drinking hot water with a drop of milk. One British village tries to fight back and sends warrior Anticlimax to Gaul for help, recruiting his second cousin Asterix and Obelix.
