Moondance Hands Out Awards

Moondance 2006 wraps up its four-day event with the announcement of its winners. At he Boulder, Colorado event more than 10 deals and/or important alliances for Moondance projects were made. Visitors attended the networking parties, pitch panels and workshops.

For animated features, John Douglas SARA AND THE STARFISH won the Calypso Award for encouraging a spirit of enterprise in saving the environment, habitats and wildlife. Moreover, James Keeshens EL DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS took home the Seahorse Award for men writers and filmmakers.

In the animated shorts category, Marc Hampson, Vanessa Lopez and John Olsons TORREY PINES/THE PACKAGE took home a Seahorse Award and Bob Svihovecs LITTLE BLUE won a Calypso Award as well.

Pai-Hsin Kuos WINGS garnered the Columbine Award for films that reflect non-violent conflict resolution, alternatives to violence or show why violent resolution to conflict is counter-productive.

Jun Heon Ohs SPACE CRAFT #008 was bestowed the Gaia Award for a film that elucidates and improves the spiritual quality of all life on the planet, and contributes to the betterment of the world spirit.

Gaelle Denis CITY PARADISE won the Spirit Of Moondance Award for women writers and filmmakers.

The Moondance 2007 competition will open for submissions starting Oct.1, 2006, with the final deadline of April 1, 2007. The 2007 entry form and guidelines will be at www.moondancefilmfestival.com .
