Activision's CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3 has hit the $1 billion mark, reports Variety. The game reached the milestone in 16 days, which is a day faster than James Cameron's AVATAR did in theaters. In comparison, CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS, the previous title in the franchise, took six weeks to reach $1 billion in sales.
This is just one more sales record for the hot title. The shooter game had the highest grossing launch, earning $400 million in its first 24 hours of release.
This is the first release since Activision fired series creators Jason West and Vince Zampella. The company alleges the duo were in talks with Electronic Arts to form a new development studio. West and Zampella deny the claims and the two parties have since filed suit against each other.
