Marvel Unleashes ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trailer

The highly-anticipated first trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy arrives on the web.

Following its debut on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC, the highly-anticipated trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is now available for viewing on the web.

From the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy.  An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot, a tree-like humanoid (voiced by Vin Diesel), the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

The new trailer, which introduces the motley crew of characters and their foes, features John C. Reilly as an officer of Nova Corps. Viewers also get another peek at Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, first glimpsed in the post-credits sequence of last fall’s Thor: The Dark World:

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theaters in the U.S. on August 1.
