The Magic Of Both Fantasias Flies Into Homes

In celebration of the initial release of FANTASIA/2000 on VHS and DVD, Walt Disney is releasing the original FANTASIA on DVD. Hitting stores November 14, 2000, fans can own the magic and spectacle of both of Disney's masterpieces. The FANTASIA/2000 DVD will feature: a 48-minute making of documentary; two commentary tracks featuring artist Al Hirschfeld, executive producer Roy E. Disney and many of the filmmakers; the 1953 Oscar winning short film, TOOT, WHISTLE, PLUNK AND BOOM; and the never-before-released short entitled MELODY. The FANTASIA DVD will feature: a 48-minute making of documentary; and two audio commentaries, including Walt Disney taken from three decades of interviews, Maestro James Levine and Roy E. Disney, chairman of Disney Studios. For the serious collector, The FANTASIA Anthology three-disc set will feature both films plus "The FANTASIA Legacy" supplemental disc, which includes 11-hours of bonuses. "Legacy" will include: five unused sequences planned for FANTASIA, including "Clair de Lune;" storyboards; character designs; production demonstrations; filmmaker introductions; still frame gallery; pencil tests; interviews with Walt Disney; a "Production Progression Demonstration" and a special effects featurette. Animation historian John Canemaker served as the creative consultant for the "Legacy" compellation. The FANTASIA/2000 VHS will sell for US$26.99. Both the FANTASIA and FANTASIA/2000 DVDs will retail for $29.99 each and the box set will be priced at $69.99.
