Madagascar Leads Kids' Choice Award Nods

Nickelodeon's 19th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, which will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006, from 8-9:30 pm ET/PT, has announced this years nominees.

MADAGASCAR topped the list this year, accruing three nominations for favorite animated movie and favorite voices from an animated movie (Chris Rock and Ben Stiller), and ROBOTS received two for favorite animated movie and favorite voice from an animated movie (Robin Williams).

In addition to MADAGASCAR and ROBOTS, the other films competing for favorite animated movie are CHICKEN LITTLE and WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT. Joining Stiller, Rock and Williams in the favorite voices from an animated movie is Johnny Depp from THE CORPSE BRIDE. Depp also picked up a nomination for favorite movie actor CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

Favorite movie nods went to ARE WE THERE YET?, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE and HERBIE: FULLY LOADED.

On the TV front, favorite cartoon nominations were given out to THE ADVENTURES OF JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS, THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, THE SIMPSONS and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS. As for videogames, the nominees are THE INCREDIBLES: RISE OF THE UNDERMINER, MADAGASCAR: OPERATION PENGUIN, MADDEN NFL 2006 and MARIO BASEBALL.

Kids will be able to vote in a total of 16 categories. Surprise awards also will be announced during the show. Voting begins online March 6 on Nick.com.

Jack Black (KING KONG, SCHOOL OF ROCK), who will host the awards, said, "I'm super excited to be hosting Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards because when you're doing a show for the kids, you can get extra crazy and loony. I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell you I'm going to bring the super-duper, freaky-deaky, ultra-clowny super dance! But that's all I'll say."

Marjorie Cohn, evp, development and original programming, Nickelodeon and an exec producer for the award show, said, "Kids love Jack Black's high energy, unpredictable comedy the perfect personality for serving as host of Nick's 'anything can happen' Kid's Choice Awards. With Jack as host, the surprise factor is naturally elevated. Even we can hardly wait to see what will happen."

Leading up to the Award show, TurboNick, Nickelodeon's broadband video service on Nick.com, will feature a Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards playlist, along with various clips from past awards shows and current promotions for the 19th Annual Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards. On April 1, TurboNick will serve as the interactive broadband homebase for all things Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.

In addition, free promotional Podcasts will be available on Nick.com for various media players, including exclusive Jack Black video content and more. These Podcasts also will be available on the iTunes Music Store (www.itunes.com) for download to iPods. Nickelodeon also will join forces with Comcast's broadband platform Comcast.net to feature a half-hour Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards nominee special running on the Fan (Comcast's multimedia broadband player on its consumer portal, Comcast.net). The special also will be featured at Comcast's 26 kiosk mall locations across the country.
