Matthew Fox is in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.' BILLY SMOKE, based on the comic about a hit man who seeks redemption, per VARIETY.
The Oni Press comic was written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, and will be published next year. Moore recently wrote the LEADING MAN comic for Universal.
Basil Iwanyk at Thunder Road and Eric Gitter and Closed On Mondays Ent. are producing. Oni's Peter Sherwin will exec produce.
The story follows a hit man who is nearly killed during a botched assignment and realizes he must seek redemption by eliminating all the world's assassins.
Oni has other titles in development, including DreamWorks' RETURN OF KING DOUG (produced and starring Ben Stiller) and Universal's SCOTT PILGRIM directed by Edgar Wright and starring Michael Cera, which will begin filming this fall.
