Press Release from LOOK Effects

HOLLYWOOD, CA, September 21, 2010 – LOOK Effects’ Hollywood facility has begun creating the visual effects for the new season of FOX Television’s “Bones.”  This is the sixth season for the popular series and the sixth year LOOK has produced the effects. The new season premieres Thursday, September 23rd at 8:00pm.

The Emmy-nominated LOOK has produced all of the visual effects for “Bones” since the first season.  With 22 episodes per season and an average of 15 shots each, LOOK has delivered close to 2,000 shots to the team at “Bones.”  LOOK’s work for the show is a combination of 2D, 3D and practical effects.  The primary areas for their work are set extensions, interiors, enhancing practical effects, gore enhancement and bugs.

“The relationship LOOK has with the show’s creators is key,” says LOOK’s visual effects supervisor Christian Cardona.  “They’re so open to our input and they respect and enjoy our ideas.  Collaborating with clients is one of our core strengths and we work very hard to get them the most bang for their buck combined with the most creative solution.”

“Bones” takes place in Washington, DC at an imaginary institute, but is shot in Los Angeles.  Much of what the team at LOOK does is to create exteriors that sell the illusion of the action happening in Washington.  LOOK also works very closely with the artists who do the practical effects to make sure the work integrates seamlessly into the scenes.  Time and budget considerations call for creativity and efficiency as the full production cycle, from concept to delivery, is just six weeks and for LOOK to deliver the final effects, it’s a mere two weeks from receipt of plates.

“I’ve worked with LOOK since Season 1 of ‘Bones’,” says executive producer Stephen Nathan.  “Not only have they brilliantly executed the visual effects we need, but their creative input has allowed us to solve problems, be cost-effective, and enhance our storytelling.  Their ability to think outside the computer and to work with all the members of our crew has allowed us to make surprising and creative solutions.  LOOK is an integral part of ‘Bones’’ creative team, and I can't imagine doing the show without them.  I look forward to working with them for many years.”
