Press Release from CIS Hollywood

Hollywood, CA, Sept. 20, 2010 -- CIS Hollywood announced today that Liz Ralston, a veteran visual effects producer, has joined the CIS Hollywood management team as Executive Producer.  The announcement was made by Don Fly, President of CIS Visual Effects Group.  Ralston will oversee all feature production, marketing and client relations at CIS Hollywood.

“We’ve worked with Liz as a client and were always impressed with her depth of knowledge and experience,” says Fly.  “Everyone’s really happy she’s chosen to join us and make the switch to the facility side of the visual effects process.  We have a lot of respect for her.”

Ralston has over twenty years of experience in visual effects production and facility management.  Her most recent project, which just wrapped, is the upcoming release “Red Dawn.”  CIS Hollywood was the primary vendor on the project, with three other facilities sharing the additional work.

“Working with the CIS Hollywood crew on ‘Red Dawn’ was a pleasure,” says Ralston, “so when Don brought up the possibility of coming on board, I jumped at it.  I’m very happy to become a permanent member of the team.  It’s a talented group of artists, and filmmakers are always happy when bringing their projects here.”

Ralston was the visual effects producer on “Babe,” the 1995 Oscar® winner for best visual effects.  “Inspector Gadget,” “102 Dalmatians,” “Behind Enemy Lines,” “Idlewild” and “Land of the Lost” are among her other credits in that role.  At Dream Quest Images, Ralston was the executive production manager on “Armageddon” and “Mighty Joe Young.”  For director Mike Nichols, she produced the visual effects on “Charlie Wilson’s War” and the six hour HBO mini-series “Angels in America.”

A film school graduate of Southern Illinois University, where Ralston studied cinematography and focused on experimental animation, led her to a career in visual effects.  She was a rotoscope artist at Roto Effects of America, a traditional optical effects house, where her first feature project was “Beetlejuice.”  Ralston went on to work at deGraf/Wahrman, a cutting-edge computer graphics company where she was manager and producer.  In 1991, she joined Rhythm & Hues as a producer, working on a variety of feature film and commercial projects over the next five years.  She also held production executive positions at The Walt Disney Company, The Secret Lab and Imaginary Forces.

Currently in production at CIS Hollywood are “Contagion,” “Green Hornet,” “Project X,” and “The Warrior’s Way,” in addition the just wrapped “Red Dawn.”  At CIS Vancouver, current projects include “Red Dawn” and “Green Hornet” in association with CIS Hollywood, “Red” and commercials for “Nutrisystem” and “Shout.”  Rok!t® Studio is completing main and end titles for “Gulliver’s Travels,” “For Colored Girls” and “Red August.”
