Paris's Method Animation is bringing Antoine de Saint-Exupery's THE LITTLE PRINCE back to television, reports VARIETY. The 18.4 million euro ($27.5 million) CG production is scheduled to debut next December. Method is also working on a 3-D version.

The classic story follows a lost boy who travels from planet to planet after being blown off Earth by a huge storm. Many know the story from Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's 1980s anime TV series.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, La Fabrique d'Images, India's DQ Entertainment, Germany's ARD and Italy's RAI Fiction are all co-producing the project.

In addition, Method and game producer MK2, via their MKO joint venture, will create a videogame tie-in.

Sony will handle international home video sales, except in North America.

PGS Entertainment has pre-booked the series on television stations such as France 3, WDR (Germany), RAI (Italy), TV2 (Denmark), TV2 (Norway), ABC (Australia), MTV3 (Finland) and TSR (Switzerland).
