As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest, Mirror Mirror) has been cast to play Mia, the female version of Ashley J. Williams (Ash) as played by Bruce Campbell in the original trilogy.

In this version, targeted for release on April 12, 2013, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead, unleashing a demonic force that possesses each of the friends until only one is left to fight for survival.

Fede Alvarez directs the reboot of Sam Raimi's cult classic 1981 The Evil Dead from his own screenplay co-written with Rodo Sayagues. Revisions were done by Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody.
