'Life of Pi', 'Brave' Lead 11th Annual VES Awards

Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi” and Pixar’s "Brave" each take home four trophies at the 11th annual VES Awards.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA --

The team that created the visual effects -- including a CG Bengal tiger -- for Ang Lee’s Life of P i won four Visual Effects Society awards on Tuesday during the 11th annual VES Awards ceremony, including the top prize for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature.

Pixar’s Brave also took home four awards at the ceremony, held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Additional feature winners include The Avengers and The Impossible and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. HBO's Game of Thrones dominated the television categories, winning a total of four awards.

During the ceremony, Lee was presented the VES Visionary Award by visual effects supervisor Dennis Muren (Star Wars). Harrison Ford presented VFX pioneer Richard Edlund (Star Wars) with the society’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
