Imira Signs New Licensees For Sandra, The Fairytale Detective

Barcelona, 23 November 2010: Imira Entertainment, Spain’s leading production and distribution company specialising in youth programming, has signed a host of licensing and merchandising deals in Iberia for its hit brand Sandra, the Fairytale Detective as the 52x13’ show wins increasing audience share on Clan TV in Spain.
Invercas has signed up rights for party items (piñatas, head banners, bags and boxes for candy) while Comansi has come on board as licensee for plastic figures, board games, and soft balls. Also in Spain and Portugal, Nova Azimat has been awarded the license for toy candy, novelty candy and pop marshmallows while Copywrite Europe will launch backpacks, bags, stationery and a can of crayons. In a further deal, Imira has granted the license for trading cards and games, fotocards, stick & stack, stick & story, stick & puzzle and stick & colour books to Panini.
Sandra, the Fairytale Detective is winning increasingly high ratings on Clan TV where it airs on Saturday and Sundays. From August to October the series received an average of 346,000 viewers per showing and a 7.2 percentage of all kids from 4-10 years old.
Laura Navarro, Licensing Manager for Spain and Portugal at Imira Entertainment said: “Sandra is proving very popular on Clan TV and already has built a considerable fan base. These deals will help build on the existing broadcast, publishing and home entertainment presence in Spain and Portugal.”
Sandra, the Fairytale Detective is a co-production between Imira Entertainment, RTVE and DQ Entertainment. It airs around the world on channels including TF1 in France, RTVE, Clan TV and Disney Channel Spain, Disney Channels in Italy, France, Germany, India, Nickelodeon Asia, the Children Channel in Israel, Ireland’s TG4 and Switzerland’s Italian speaking public channel RSI, as well as RTP in Portugal, TV5/ABC in Philippines, Al Sayyar in Middle East and Kids Talk Talk HD in South Korea.
Aimed at 4-8 year olds, Imira has also scored licensing deals with Roca Editorial for publishing and home entertainment deals with TF1 for France and Tribanda Pictures for Spain.
What would happen if we combined two such traditional – and successful – genres as classic fairytales and detective stories? The answer is Sandra, the Fairytale Detective, a series full of magic, mystery, adventure and humour. What happens when someone steals Cinderella’s glass slipper? Or if the Prince kisses Sleeping Beauty but she doesn’t wake up? What’s to be done when Snow White’s evil Stepmother’s mirror mysteriously goes missing?
