The Sharpe Company has appointed Italy’s BIC Licensing and Australian apparel company Barrymore’s Pty. Ltd., as licensing agents for Great Britain’s popular pre-school program HUMPHREY’S CORNER. These agents join the HUMPHREY’S CORNER licensing team headed by Charles Day, president of The Sharpe Company, worldwide licensee of the elephant character. HUMPHREY’S CORNER is based on characters created and written by Sally Hunter in a series of books for preschool children about an elephant named Humphrey. Barrymore’s, the leading licensee of children’s apparel in Australia, plans to launch a line HUMPHREY’S CORNER infant, toddler and children’s apparel, covering the range from newborn to 7 years, according to Day. In Australia and New Zealand, just as in Britain, licensees of HUMPHREY’S CORNER are experiencing excellent results in marketing products including plush, ladies sleepwear, back to school and stationery, photo albums, infant clothing and baby accessories, as well as greeting cards and books. HUMPHREY’S CORNER merchandise previously made its U.S. debut as a centerpiece property of the new FAO Baby Store within FAO Schwarz.
