Levy Leaps Into Live-Action/CG Museum

Twentieth Century Fox has tapped Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps Ent. to produce the live-action/CG feature, A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. The deal will see Levy direct the picture as part of a two-year, nonexclusive, first-look production pact with the studio.

Commented Levy, "I've truly enjoyed working with Fox over the years. There's a creative short-hand, a collaborative process that's empowering and successful. I'm looking forward to broadening that partnership with 21 Laps. We're going to develop and create the kind poignant, broadly accessible comedies I enjoy watching and making. A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM feels like the perfect next step in the evolution of that sensibility."

Fox president Hutch Parker said, Ive had the pleasure of working with Shawn twice now and hes got a great sense of what connects with audiences. Im looking forward to working with him more closely now that hes part of the studios family.

The family comedy follows on a goodhearted but bumbling security guard at the Museum of Natural History who accidentally unleashes an ancient curse that brings the animals and insects back to life.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting early 2006 in time for a holiday release. Levy also will produce the film in conjunction with 1492 Prods.' Chris Columbus and Michael Barnathan. Emma Watts is shepherding for Fox.

Originally, Stephen Sommers was attached to direct, until he left to write, directing and produce the remake of WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE for Paramount Pictures.

One of the worlds largest producers and distributors of motion pictures, Fox Filmed Ent. produces, acquires and distributes motion pictures throughout the world. These motion pictures are produced or acquired by the following units of FFE 20th Century Fox, Fox 2000, Fox Searchlight Pictures and 20th Century Fox Animation.
