Egmont Licensing and CAOZ sign a publishing and licensing deal on the new property Legends of Valhalla – Thor.

With just days left of the production of the animated feature film – Legends of Valhalla – THOR, Egmont Licensing (daughter company of the Nordic publishing powerhouse Egmont) and the Icelandic animation company CAOZ have signed a licensing and publishing contract for the property.

Egmont Licensing will under the terms of the contract handle all licensing matters in the Nordic Region and publishing on larger scale. Egmont has already started development of a number of publishing items under the new brand and will present their offerings for the first time at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the most important marketplace for books, media, rights and licences worldwide. More than 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries, 299,000 visitors and over 10,000 journalists participate in the fair.

Egmont is the largest media and publishing company in the Nordic region and is the force behind countless household brands in the entertainment industry. The company publishes in more than 30 countries, has over 100 daughter companies and more than 6,500 employees world-wide. Amongst Egmont’s publications are Donald Duck, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tin-Tin and Petzi.

The animated feature film, Legends of Valhalla – THOR, will premiere in Europe from mid-February and onwards. The film, produced in Stereoscopic 3D is an Icelandic – German – Irish co-production with CAOZ as lead producers of the project. The film is the largest film project ever to be produced in Iceland with a production budget of 8.5 M €. The film has already been sold to over 50 countries world-wide. Nordisk Film distributes the film in Scandinavia.

CAOZ is a leading animation production studio based in Reykjavik, Iceland, formed in 2001. It has previously released two award winning mini-features – The Lost Little Caterpillar and Anna and the Moods.
