Legal Action Comics Anthology To Debut In July

LEGAL ACTION COMICS, a 256-page paperback featuring comic strips by over seventy of the world's top cartooning talents, will make its debut at Comic-Con International in July 19 - 22, 2001. Contributors include the legendary Robert Crumb, Pulitzer prize winner Art Spiegelman, Robert Williams, Kim Deitch, Mary Fleener, Gary Panter, Spain Rodriguez, Jay Lynch, Tony Millionaire, Kaz, Julie Doucet and dozens of other renowned cartoonists. By blending offbeat humor with a diversity of cartooning styles, LEGAL ACTION COMICS carries on in the tradition of ground-breaking underground comics anthology milestones like Robert Crumb's ZAP COMIX and Art Spiegelman's RAW. The book's Comic-Con debut will be followed by a New York book release party and art show at CBGB's 313 Gallery and special book signing at Jim Hanley's Universe. The book is edited by Danny Hellman, whose work has appeared regularly in a wide variety of publications including: TIME, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, NEWSWEEK, NEW YORK PRESS and THE NATION. Hellman initially conceived the LEGAL ACTION COMICS project as a fund-raiser to benefit his legal defense fund related to his civil litigation involving editorial cartoonist Ted Rall. According to Hellman, "I have assembled an amazing and unique book that I am extremely proud of. I am sure that LEGAL ACTION COMICS will be enjoyed by both hardcore comics fans and ordinary folks alike." For more information visit www.dannyhellman.com.
