LAIKA/house Appoints New Visual Effects Supervisor

LAIKA/house President/Executive Producer Lourri Hammack has hired Ben Fischler as Visual Effects Supervisor for LAIKA/house.

In his new position, Fischler will drive the look and push the visual quality of projects within the LAIKA/house CG Department.

Fischler joined LAIKA/house after leaving DreamWorks Animation, where he worked as a Production Lighter on projects including: MADAGASCAR, MADAGASCAR 2: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA, BEE MOVIE, SHREK 2, SHREK THE THIRD, and OVER THE HEDGE.

Before working on feature film animation, Fischler co-founded CG studio Imagination Plantation, which was purchased and incorporated by W!LDBRAIN in 1999. He went on to become the Senior Technical Director at W!LDBRAIN and was technical director for the feature HUBERT'S BRAIN.

"Early in my career, building and leading intimate, focused teams was a fun challenge. After working on several features at DreamWorks, I was ready to return to the fast-paced excitement of short-form production. The Visual Effects Supervisory role at LAIKA/house is a perfect fit for my experience and growth," Fischler said.

"Ben brings a keen creative vision, a wealth of production experience in the commercial and feature animation industries, and a passion for doing great work. We are thrilled to have him join our team," said LAIKA/house CG Department Manager Roland Gauthier.

Fischler, who grew up in New York City, graduated from the Academy Of Art College and attended the University Of Montana and Brooklyn College.
