Korean Penguin on the Move

Korea-based Iconix Ent. has closed deals with networks in Italy, Spain, the Middle East and Mexico for its Asian hit PORORO THE LITTLE PENGUIN, reports C21 MEDIA.

A creation of Iconix, Korea's Ocon, educational network EBS and Hanaro Telecom, the show has been acquired by Cartoon Network in Spain and Rai TV in Italy. PORORO has also been sold to Televisa in Mexico and the Al-Jazeera Children's Channel, which reaches some 22 territories across the Middle East via satellite. The deal with Cartoon Network is for season one, while the Italian and Middle Eastern sales include both seasons one and two.

Previous sales of the property include Taiwan (YoYo), India (Hungama), France (TF1, Tiji TV), Scandinavia (TV2), Japan (Fuji TV) and Singapore (TV12). The current sales bring the total to 81 territories.

Other Iconix titles include CHIRO (52x5), about a family of cubic chickens who live with a crocodile, a piglet and a monkey; TAI CHI CHASERS (39x30); and Z-RANGERS (26x30), which is in production with Pixel Planet for KBS and Tooniverse.
